Meet the Trainer
Danni – Owner/Head Trainer
I have been training dogs professionally since 2019 and founded Rainy Day Dog Training in 2024. I started where many of you likely are now, I had dogs my whole life and then suddenly I had a dog (Ivar) that turned everything I thought I knew about dogs upside down.
Nothing I tried worked on him, he was regularly leaving me bruised, crying, and wondering if I needed to rehome him. I decided to send him to a board and train program in 2018 as a last ditch effort and saw more improvement than I ever thought possible. After that, I started learning everything I could about dog training and psychology.
I ended up getting a bachelor’s in psychology, and I look at dog training through the lens of therapy for your dog. I am very interested in what drives behaviors in dogs and what we as humans can do to understand and help our animals.
Over the years, I have worked with hundreds of dogs with a wide variety of issues and training goals. I continue to further my knowledge and education whenever I can through seminars, books, and shadow programs. I worked for Be Heeled Dog Training in 2023 where I recieved a lot of hands-on instruction and I recently completed a mentorship program with Team K9 Training.
I now train dogs doing 1-on-1 private sessions, virtual sessions, and occasionally take service dog clients. I am also an AKC CGC and Trick Dog evlauator!

Meet Ivar
Service Dog, Semi-Retired
Ivar was rescued when he was around 6-8 months old from a tiny rescue in York, South Carolina. I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for in a dog at the time, I had only ever owned Shelties, but he walked up to me and put his head in my lap and I knew I couldn’t leave without him. Little did I know, he would be nothing like the Shelties I had before. He would jump on people until he got them on the ground, roughhouse play until he left massive bruises on people, pulled ponytails, and despite my best efforts he managed to eat several of my chickens.
I knew there was a lot of work to do, however Ivar was going to require me to change everything I thought they knew about dogs and training. If Ivar decided a behavior was more fun than paying attention to a person or a treat, that was the end of it. Balanced training taught us how to communicate and gave me the ability to enforce fair boundaries with him in a way that he could understand and respect. This allowed him to really shine as a dog and reach his full potential.
Our relationship improved tremendously. I went from wondering if I needed to rehome him to adoring him and task training him as a service dog.
Ivar is now semi-retired as my health has improved. He spends most his time learning new tricks, hiking, and learning how to track and detect odors!
